Put Down That Phone

I have something I want you to do if you’re reading this (and it’s not some ridiculously late hour of the night).

Put down your computer or phone or tablet or whatever else device you might be reading this on and go tell someone you love them.

Go plan a time to meet with a friend or family member for a face-to-face conversation.

I heard today that this generation is the most connected and also the loneliest generation ever.

People have instant connections with people all over the world through digital technology and social media, but so many go day after day without any meaningful social interaction with actual people.

That’s what our souls crave. That’s what we were made for.

That’s what Jesus prayed for us more than anything– that we’d be united and that we’d love each other as if our very lives depended on it.

Oh, and don’t text and drive. Whatever it is can’t be worth risking your life (or the lives of the others around you). Whatever you have to say can wait five minutes.

So don’t wait. Put down your device and go outside and get some fresh air. Go read a book. Go pet your cat. Go and talk to your spouse or your kids.

You can read this later.
